My experiences, since working for Michigan State have really opened my eyes to the diversity of life. There are so many positive experiences to take from working in such a large department. Since arriving at State in 2003, I have gained a better understanding of how to function at a higher level as a professional in this field, as well as gaining invaluable experience effectively leading large-scale projects and campus initiatives.

*Master's in Counseling and School Psychology with a concentration in Student Affairs from the University of Nebraska at Kearney

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and my Master of Science Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
I like being at Michigan State University because the entire community is very open and caring toward all kinds of people. I immediately felt at home when I visited and accepted my position. My network of friends and colleagues expanded in a short amount of time too.

One of the great things about working at State is being part of very large organization.  As members of the campus community, we have access to a broad range of resources, including a wealth of individuals' skills and knowledge at our fingertips.

In my time at MSU, I have enjoyed the connections with students that reside in our halls and seeing their growth from the time they were a First Year Student to being a Sophomore.  I appreciate the Department's commitment to the intentionality of the initiatives that occur in the Residence Halls through my colleagues, as well as the Graduate and Undergraduate Staff members who have shown to be creative in achieving this commitment.  The Department has always offered various opportunities to grow professionally so that myself and my colleagues would be able to transition to the next level in our careers in Higher Education.

*Bachelor's in Sociology from Western Illinois University

*Ph.D. in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education from MSU

I am very fortunate to have studied and worked at several universities across the country and around the world. I came to Michigan State to complete my Ph.D. in Higher Education, and stayed because I fell in love with the people and the university.
There are many opportunities to get involved in campus and community activities. Working for Residence Life has enabled me to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and to also work on university leadership committees. Perhaps best of all, working in Residence Life provides daily interaction with scores of students every day on a more personal level.
