The Department of Residence Life at Michigan State University has offered a high degree of experience, development, and autonomy as an up-and-coming Student Affairs Professional. I have had several opportunities to strengthen my understanding of the field as an Assistant Hall Director and Complex Director, and I am grateful to have benefitted from the relationships I have built with my students and colleagues. A Florida native, I value the fact that I was able to construct a home away from home with individuals from within the department that truly care for me and wish for me to succeed!

I don't come from a traditional student affairs background, so for me working in DRL at MSU has been a fantastic learning experience. Everyone was been welcoming, patient, and willing to share ideas - all of which I really appreciate.

I'm Kathy, and I work in University Apartments. The vibrancy and diversity of our community is my favorite thing about working in the apartments. We are home to students and families from all over the world. Before moving to the apartments area, I was in Owen Graduate Center, another culturally rich environment. Meeting and getting to know others from different countries, backgrounds, etc. has been an amazing and illuminating experience. In learning about others, I have learned more about myself-- an added benefit to an already extraordinary opportunity.
